A local farmer’s market or farm stand
For those who are local or visiting the area, we love Little Red Hen Farm & Market in Pittsfield, New Hampshire. They offer local produce, meat, dairy, honey, maple syrup, homemade sourdough, and more—including fresh flowers from a local florist. If you’re not local, I encourage you to find a good farmer’s market or farm stand nearby. We made this switch when our son started eating what we were eating, and food sourcing suddenly became important to me.
Yes, it can be more expensive than shopping at the grocery store, so we have offset the extra cost in several ways. First, we prioritized the quality of our family’s food and canceled some subscriptions. We also reduced our dining out budget, including takeout.
